Just South of Brownsville,
Tx. lies our premier, five-star plus destination for Whitewing dove and wild
Bobwhite quail. Overlooking beautiful Lake Las Alazanas, this 100%
American owned and operated, Orvis endorsed lodge, boasts the finest wingshooting
in all of North America. Situated on 11,000 private acres, with access
to approx. 500,000 acres of hunting concessions, scouting teams pinpoint
the daily bird concentrations.
Being
located adjacent to the largest Whitewing nesting area in the world has
it’s obvious advantages. In addition to the world-class shooting,
hunters are equipped with a cooler of their favorite beverages and two
experienced “palomeros” to retrieve birds, reload shell bags, and otherwise
cater to their needs.
With over 70 well-trained English pointers “on staff”, professional
dog handlers, Texas-style rigs and vast acres of prime, all native Bobwhite
habitat, covey counts will normally exceed the expectations of even the
most avid quail hunters.
Accomodations, food
and service here are simply unparalleled. Some amenities include an
Orvis gun room for fitting each client to their personal favorite Beretta
shotgun, inground pool w/swim-up bar, professionally-staffed massage complex,
all the clay you can shoot (shells extra), satellite TV, game
room with billiards, and telephone/fax service. Expect hot hors d’oeuvres
and fresh, handmade Margaritas upon your return from the field, alongside
full breakfasts, hearty lunches, and gourmet meals with fine wine.
The short “journey” to the ranch is an experience in itself.
Private, well-appointed passsenger vans safely deliver hunters to the lodge
by way of scenic, well-paved roads. Mexican culture is evident all
along the way, and your driver will most likely make a local stop to replenish
“refreshments”. Prior to departure, guests are met by uniformed personnel
at the ranch’s kiosk inside the Harlingen, Tx. airport. All that is
needed is a passport; visas and hunting licenses are secured by the ranch
prior to your arrival. However, all necessary documents need to be
submitted to Oliver Outdoors at least 45 days in advance. Border crossings
are typically effortless and take only a few minutes. Other options
for accessing the ranch include private charter from Harlingen to an airstrip
minutes away, or commercial/private aircraft into Ciudad Victoria, about
an hour away.
Whether your goal is to seriously impress, or just relax with
family members or friends, this world-class operation is the place that
we recommend!
